It uses advanced camera recognition and Google Gemini AI to help individuals and small businesses track product expiry dates, monitor food waste trends, organize inventory across separate shops or warehouse shelves, and receive automatic daily warnings before items expire.

Yes, Expiry Alert Pro offers a generous Freemium tier! The free tier allows you to log up to 20 active products, access our offline barcode scanner, receive daily notifications, and categorize items by shop. Upgrading to Premium (₹99/month) removes all advertisements, unlocks unlimited product logging, enables multi-device cloud synchronization, and allows exporting reports in PDF and CSV formats.

The scanner uses Google ML Kit on-device processing via Android's CameraX APIs. It decodes standard barcodes (EAN-13, UPC-A, Code-128, etc.) directly on your phone's hardware. This means barcode decoding is 100% offline, private, and incurs zero API limits or loading delays. The decoded barcode is then queried against a public database or Gemini AI to auto-fill the product form.

Google Gemini AI (using the gemini-2.0-flash model) acts as an intelligent identifier. If you scan a barcode that isn't found in standard online directories, Gemini AI recognizes the manufacturer code and pre-fills product details. In photo mode, Gemini AI analyzes the entire packaging label in an image and extracts product name, brand, category, quantity, and expiration dates automatically.

Expiry notifications are scheduled to check stock daily at exactly 9:00 AM. On modern Android versions, battery-saver features (like Doze mode or manufacturer-specific app killers) restrict background tasks to save power, which can block or delay notifications. Setting Expiry Alert Pro to "Unrestricted" under your phone's battery settings ensures Android fires the alarm workers reliably.

All subscription purchases are processed securely by Google Play Billing and linked directly to your Google Account. When you install the app on a new device, the billing client automatically verifies your purchase status and unlocks Premium status. To restore your inventory data, make sure you are signed into Firebase Auth and select "Restore from Cloud" under Settings > Backup & Restore.

You have full ownership of your data. You can delete your entire account and associated storage directly in the app by going to Settings > Account > Delete Account. This action permanently deletes your local SQLite data, your authenticated Firebase profile, and all synchronized product listings on the Firebase Firestore database.
